Accessibility

Baruch Econ & Finance Studio is used in Baruch College courses, and every student should be able to use it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What we do
- Every page starts with a "Skip to main content" link and has one main heading and a main landmark.
- Equations are rendered with KaTeX, which includes MathML that screen readers can read aloud.
- Every slider, number box, and menu in the interactive models has a label, so a screen reader names the parameter it changes. Every adjustable value can be set with a keyboard; dragging a curve is an optional shortcut.
- Text and interface colors are checked against WCAG AA contrast ratios in our automated tests.
- Images have text alternatives.
- Pages reflow on phone screens without sideways scrolling.
Known limitations
- The interactive charts are drawn as graphics. Each one has a text description, and its current values are read out when you change a slider or preset; finer visual detail, such as the exact shape of a curve, is explained in the lesson text.
- Lecture videos in the course archive are hosted on YouTube or Vimeo, so captions depend on each video.
- PDFs in the course archive come from past terms and may not be tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide an accessible version.

If something on this site is hard or impossible to use with your setup, email hyunjun.yoo@baruch.cuny.edu with the page address and what happened. We will reply and work with you on a fix or an accessible alternative.
For course accommodations, Baruch students can also work with the college's disability services office.
